Roadworthy certificates in Slacks Creek
In Queensland a safety certificate (what most people still call a roadworthy) is needed before a registered light vehicle changes hands, and when you re-register one. We do the inspection at 77 Moss St and, if the car needs work to pass, we can do that too.

Common questions
Roadworthy certificates, answered
When do I need a safety certificate in Queensland?
When a registered light vehicle is transferred to a new owner (other than to a licensed dealer), when you re-register an unregistered vehicle, and when you bring interstate registration across to Queensland. Since the rules changed you no longer need one just to advertise the car, but you do need it to complete the transfer, and the Queensland Government lists a fine of over $700 for disposing of a vehicle without one. Check the current rules on qld.gov.au for your situation.
How long is a safety certificate valid?
A certificate has a limited life in time and kilometres from the day it's issued, and it can only be used for one transfer. The current limits are set by the Queensland Government, so check them on qld.gov.au and get the inspection done when you're ready to hand the car over, not months before.
What's checked?
The basics that make the car safe: tyres, brakes, steering and suspension, lights and indicators, windscreen and wipers, seat belts, body and chassis condition, and fluid leaks. It's not a full mechanical inspection.
What if it fails?
You get a list of what needs fixing. If we do the repairs, we re-inspect once they're done. You can also have the work done elsewhere and come back within the re-inspection period.
